The following information is to ensure your wellbeing and understanding of the local, natural surroundings and wildlife.

Whilst Banana Well Getaway takes every possible care, Burrguk Aboriginal Corporation will not be held liable for personal injury, loss or damage to personal belongings, although every precaution will be taken. It is up to the individual to be responsible for their own personal care and safety, whilst visiting the area.

  • Banana Well Getaway is an eco friendly campground with only solar power and backup generators. Help us by using energy efficiently & turn power off when not in use. 
  • All visitors arriving & departing, please report to the Office (Office hours 7am – 8pm).
  • The nearest Medical Service is in Broome. There is a walk-in Urgent Care Clinic, Unit 3/19 Hamersley St, Broome WA 6725
  • Beagle Bay Shop (23 kms away). Please note there is a day pass required to enter Beagle Bay Community. Please click here for details: https://www.visitbroome.com.au/blog/2024/beagle-bay-community-entry-fee-starts-15th-april-2024
  • Mobile and Internet Coverage is intermittent. Please ask staff for the campground hotspots if you need.
  • Be aware wild animals can freely roam on the property so please be mindful and keep an eye out for donkeys, dingos, wild dogs and cattle. Donkeys can be heard during the night.
  • Mosquitoes & sandflies are prevalent in the area at certain times of the year and we suggest wearing protective clothing and repellent.
  • Snakes inhabit this area, some of the deadliest species. Please be vigilant and alert at all times.
  • Crocodile sightings occur in Burrguk Creek, please be vigilant at all times. Dogs can attract crocodiles and crocodiles will attack dogs. Enter at your own risk.
  • A day pass is required to enter Banana Well Getaway grounds with access to Burrguk Creek.  This can be obtained at our office between 7am and 8pm daily.

The following rules needs to be adhered to during your stay at Banana Well Getaway:

  • Fishing & Crabbing:  Please obtain a daypass for your car dashboard to access the Landing (Burrguk Creek). Enter at your own risk and take all precautions if launch your boat at the Landing.  We are not able to facilitate any boat launching at this site and suggest you would need to be very experienced in this area at this site. Fishing off the bank throughout is accessible. Please check in with out team at the office for their local knowledge and if its advisable to proceed due to the fluctuation in tidal movements and weather.  Please be aware of the WA legal limits. Crabbing: In WA only drop nets are legal to a maximum of 1.5m in diameter.  Maximum of 2 crabs per person. NB: Fishing licences issued in other states are not valid in WA.
  • Firearms & Spear guns: Shooting a firearm and the use of spear guns are strictly prohibited within the property. Shooting of wild animals for food purposes is prohibited without written permission from land owner.
  • Dogs Allowed: it is a condition that dogs are to be sociably and farm animal friendly with owners taking full responsibility of their dogs and to be on a leash at all times. Owners are responsible for the poo patrol of their animal. Please be mindful of our resident camp dog Azzy is free roaming. She is friendly and playful and might pay you a visit at your site.
  • Trespass: Do not to trespass on neighbouring Indigenous communities without prior permission.
  • Vehicles and Burrguk marshland (mudflats): Please review tidal movements (tide chart). Do not enter intertidal zones unless you are assured of your safety and the safety of your vehicle. The creek and road to the landing can become wet and boggy and vehicles can easily sink into the mud.  There is a vehicle recovery charge (no exceptions) however please not, we are not obliged to assist and our staff may not always be capable so other arrangements will have to made.
  • Leave-no-Trace (Litter): Due to our isolation and to minimise our landfill, we request guests that are camping and caravanning to collect and take their own rubbish for disposal. 
  • Showers: Please be mindful when using the hot water and limit hot water showers to 5 minutes maximum to ensure the next person can enjoy too.
  • Quiet time: Applies between 10pm to 8am.
  • Drunk, disorderley behaviour and illegal use of drugs: Will not be tolerated at our campgrounds and patrons will be evicted and the local Police authority will be notified.
  • Water Conservation: Please refrain from connecting directly to our water taps. Our supply is to preserve the campground's greenery and our facilities. Caravan guests can fill tanks as needed please see our team to organise. ​​​​​​​

  • Vehicle Washdown area: Please be mindful, this is a washdown facility after you have left the beach and not a full carwash. We do not want to be bringing in the marshland mud to our washdown area. Please restrict water usage to 10 mins maximum.
